Hawera Road

Project Description

The home is an executive styled two-storied brick and tile residence set in the rear of a private right of way. During the owners' absence of three days, the hot water fitting on the upper floor bathroom failed, resulting in boiling water flooding the house unchecked. The damage caused to the building was immense. The house had literally turned into a sauna. The whole house needed to be gutted which included the removal of the mid-floor particleboard flooring due to delamination, Architraves and skirtings, Giboard walls/ceilings, bathroom shower enclosures, kitchen and vanity fittings.

Working with the insurance company step by step we brought the house back to better than new. Communicating with the owner at every stage. The owner initially was very concerned that the amount of damage could be caused by a small PVC fitting. Plus the realisation that he would not be able to reside in the home while the work was carried out.Towards the end of the re-build, it became apparent that the refurbished home would be a great improvement on the pre-flooded one in both quality and design it. This lifted a huge burden off his shoulders and changed his personality over-night.
